Our fourth Gippsland Forest Dialogue is on 10-11 November in Yarram and will focus on the theme of ‘Plantations in the landscape’ and what we want from and for our planted forests in the region.
|
The co-chairs - Jo Lewis, Paul Haar, David Bennett and Jason Alexandra - have put together a cracking program across the two days, and would love to see you there to discuss the opportunities and challenges around these forests.

On the Agenda
|
Next weekend's Yarram Dialogue will look at what planted forests mean to different stakeholders and communities, and work to find actionable recommendations to achieve balanced values through the exploration of three areas: the role of plantations in landscape health and their environmental impact; the role of plantations in community health and culture; and the role of plantations in the provision of forest products.

Forests Royale
|
The Royal Society's symposium on the Future of Victoria's Native Forests was held last week and is now available to watch on YouTube. Sharing many of the same concerns as the GFD, the symposium explores bushfire prevention, threatened species, human health and wellbeing, and climate change impacts, and sought to understand how the native forests will now be managed, and the challenges and the opportunities that this land-use change provides.

Committee news
Strategy has been on the agenda in the GFD's recent sub-committee meetings, with strategic, communications and finance plans all under way.
