DECEMBER UPDATE

Yarram 'Plantations in the Landscape' Dialogue

The GFD's fourth dialogue - centred around 'Plantations in the Landscape - was on 10-11 November. We had beautiful weather for Friday's field trip around the Strzelecki Ranges and Yarram's Regent Theatre was a delightful venue for the next day's discussions.

Many fascinating stories were told about how Gippsland’s plantations are shaped by historical and current land use and management decisions, and the effects that these decisions have on landscape health and associated human and community well-being.

Led by a fantastic team of co-chairs - Jo Lewis, Jason Alexandra, David Bennett and Paul Haar - the Dialogue was a wonderful coming together of Gippslanders of all stripes, sparking a huge range of ideas about how to create a brighter future for these forests and everything and everyone that relies on them.
A big thank you to everyone who was part of making the Dialogue happen and to all the participants who wholeheartedly seized the opportunity to ruminate on these important landscapes.

Stay tuned for the Co-chairs Report - which is on its way in early 2024!

GFD turns two!

The GFD is hosting an online celebration to mark our second birthday! With co-chairs from every Dialogue presenting on each of these unique events, it will be a great opportunity to catch up on what's been happening and raise a glass to everyone who has helped the GFD become such a strong voice for change in such a short time. Held on Friday December 8, between 3.30-5pm please follow this link to register for the event

Happy Holidays

Best wishes for a safe and peaceful festive season and wonderful summer from everyone at GFD! We hope you have a restful time and enjoy being among our forests, wherever that may be! If you're short on summer reading, check out the latest edition of Gippslandia, which has a short piece on our great little initiative! Note: EcoLands Collective staff have a two week break from 22 December to 8 January.

Farewell Aly

Sadly, our powerhouse Aly Nicholl is finishing up with the GFD on 14 December. She would like to say a big thank you to all GFD members and supporters for helping to bring together everyone for such important conversation. You can say au revoir and thank you to Aly at the GFD Birthday Party on 8 December - register here! (Pictured: Aly and Alex loving their hardhats at the Yarram Dialogue!)
